Young Americans-Schools of Self Defense - Beginner (Ages 5 & up)

Winter/Spring 20-21

Students are instructed in non-aggressive, self-defense techniques and safety awareness. Personal esteem, respect for others, self-discipline and physical fitness are promoted. At the conclusion of class, students will be eligible to earn a certified belt. Returning students can earn a higher rank belt. Every child will receive a number of participation awards.

Students should wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing such as sweat pants or shorts and a T-shirt. Uniforms are optional and can be purchased from the instructor.

Beginner Level

To get the most out of this class students should be able to pay attention for 40 minutes.

COVID Safety Precautions:

Face masks are required to be worn at all times while in the facility.

Participants must use hand sanitizer or wash hands prior to entering the classroom.

Only the participant is allowed into the school building. Parents (with a face mask on) of young children can bring their child to the cafeteria for class, but will not be allowed to enter the cafeteria space. Immediately after dropping the child off, the parent will have to exit the building.

Participants will social distance during class a minimum of 6 feet.

If you or your child is sick and experiencing any COVID symptoms, please do not attend class. 

Jeff Wood

Master Jeff Wood has been a Martial Arts student continuously since September of 1964, studying multiple styles in the United States, Korea, Japan, and China. In 1981, he began his career as an instructor, and over the past thirty years has devoted himself to helping all his students achieve their highest potential in all aspects of their self-defense training. Master Wood currently holds a 4th Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and is the President of the Young Americans Schools of Self-Defense in the state of Minnesota.
