  • Home Alone & Safe (Ages 7 - 10)

    Going to be home alone for short periods of time? If so, this class is a must. The instructor will focus on safety issues dealing with answering the telephone and door, stranger safety, where to keep keys and emergency information, basic first aid including choking, bleeding, burns and CPR. You will receive a participation certificate and instructional book. Students attend this class independently. Parents are encouraged to review the take home information and discuss it with their child. Do you qualify for Free or Reduced lunch?     Horse Day Camp: One Day Option (Ages 6 - 17)

    Kids will learn what it is like to have a horse for a day!!! Learn how to groom, tack-up, lead and ride. Plus have fun creating horse crafts, learning how to give a horse a bath, feeding, watering and other horse care. Campers are broken down into smaller groups based on similar riding experience, which is perfect for both new and more experienced riders! Camps run rain or shine! Please wear shoes with a closed toe and a heel, long pants and dress for the weather. Bring lunch and a nut-free snack, water bottle, bug spray and sunscreen. An electronic Boulder Point waiver is required the day of camp.   • IMS Book Club (NEW) Grades 7-8

    One Wednesday per month, students will join to talk about the book they have been reading that month (chosen by me). They will have led discussions and participate in creative activities based on those books. Books to be purchased by participant.

    IMS/MNC Ski & Snowboard Club- One Time Program

    Join your friends and classmates as you ski or snowboard down the slopes of Wild Mountain. Both Cambridge-Isanti High school and Middle school students are invited to join in on the FUN. There are various options to choose from, including transportation for those of you with a Wild Mountain Season Pass. The fees include club membership, transportation, lift ticket (if needed), supervision and a pizza party (depends on option). Any rentals of equipment must be completed online through a Wild Mountain link. Once registration is closed an email will go out with this information along with the mandatory Wild Mountain Waiver that needs to be completed prior to the first night. Students can always bring their own equipment and avoid the extra charge. This email will also contain the Ski & Snowboard Club packet. The packet contains a multitude of information regarding the club. If you would like this packet sooner they will be available at the Community Education main office (625 Main Street N., Cambridge), via email (please email mlupinek@c-ischools.org) or online to print. *Please note that space is limited and buses fill up quickly! Please sign up on the waiting list if class is full. If there is enough interest a second bus will be added and you will be contacted at that time. *For one time participants we need to know at least 3 days in advance. Thank you. All participants must have a waiver completed upon registration.   • Intro 3D Printing (Gr 3-6) - Live Online

    This 3D printing camp takes students through the 3D printing process from start to finish. Students will design their own keychains! No 3D printing experience is necessary, but familiarity with common tasks like using a computer and keyboarding is required. One design will be printed offline and mailed home.   • Intro to Game Coding (Gr 1-3) - Live Online

    Don’t Just PLAY games. CREATE them! All new games and characters! Create and learn to modify our arcade-style games using Scratch. Scratch is a programming language, developed by MIT. Basic computer skills needed (basic keyboarding and using a mouse).   • Intro to RC Racing (Grades K-8)

    Interested in RC Cars? Want to try racing them on a track? Then come join us as we explore what makes them work and get to try them out. There will be an RC learning portion and participants will leave with a better understanding of the hobby and get some time testing out their driving skills with a few different types of RC Cars. Participants can use the RC Cars provided or use their own on approval.
  • Java Game Coding (Gr 4-8) - Live Online

    Students will be introduced to object-oriented programming and elements of the Java language while learning to code their text-based RPG (Roleplaying Game). No programming experience is necessary, but familiarity with common tasks using a computer operating system (text-editing and understanding directory structures) and good keyboarding skills are required.   • Junior Bluejacket Speed & Strength Baseball (Grades 3-8) NEW

    Baseball speed and strength is a skill based camp for your serious baseball players looking to bring their skills to the next level. Players can expect to learn pitching, fielding and hitting techniques along with advanced baseball strategies. Doug Schmitz along with local baseball coaches and players will be coaching the sessions. These sessions are for students with some baseball experience and for those who hope to try out for a travel team. Sessions are geared for 3rd-5th and 6th-8th grade students. There will be weekly baseball camps with grades 3rd-5th having camps right after school from 2:05/2:15 to3:20/3:30 PM (start time depends on the school the child attends) and 6th-8th grades will have camps before school from 7:00 to 8:15 AM.     Do you have a child who is crazy about animals? Veterinary medicine is an exciting field. Helping keep animals healthy and happy is very rewarding. Learn what goes on behind the scenes in veterinary medicine, including x-rays and general care. Parents are encouraged to stay and learn with their child. Space is limited so sign up early!
  • Junior Veterinarian - Level 2 (Grades 3 - 6)

    Did your child take our Junior Veterinarian class (Level 1) and now wants to know even more about veterinary medicine and animals? If so, then this Level 2 Junior Veterinarian class is just what the doctor ordered! Learn even more about what happens behind the scenes at the vet clinic. Parents are encouraged to stay and learn with their child. The $35 fee includes a $15.00 supply fee for items required for the class. Space is limited so sign up early!   • Life of a Honey Bee (Grades K-8) NEW

    In this class students will learn about Honey Bee look alikes, what beekeepers do, pollination, honey, the life cycle and duties. We will play an active game to reinforce what we've learned, try on beekeeping suits, do a honey tasting and make rolled candles to take home.
  • Little Wilderness Nature Nuts! (ages 3-5) New

    Join us for our monthly events and let your little Nature Nuts connect with the outdoors in a fun, safe, and educational setting. We will play outside (weather permitting), read a story, make a project together, and leave sometime for open play. This program is for children ages 3-5 and must be accompanied by an adult.   • Middle School Winter Play "The Velveteen Rabbit"

    The Velveteen Rabbit Synopsis: Gramma tells her grandkids the story of young Theodore, whose toys come to life whenever they’re alone in the nursery. They yearn to become real someday, but as Horse tells the others, toys only become real through a child’s love. Theodore’s nanny gives him a velveteen bunny to help him sleep, and Bunny is so cuddly and soft, it immediately becomes Theodore’s favorite toy, accompanying him everywhere. After Theodore recovers from a scary bout of scarlet fever, the doctor instructs Nanny to get rid of all the contaminated bedding... and Bunny too! As poor Bunny awaits its fate in the trash heap, the Magic Nursery Fairy arrives to make the velveteen rabbit real because he’s been truly loved. This camp will focus directly on building up theatre foundational skills such as voice projections and volume, annunciation, character development, expressions and staging all while working to bring the beloved story of "The Velveteen Rabbit" to life. The first class session, Wednesday, November 26th will be auditions for the play. The auditions will consist of some games and readings, both individually and in groups, so be willing to explore new and fun characters. The next session isn't until Monday, December 22rd and 23rd. Following that, we come back after Winter Break for a whole week. January 5th-9th with a public performance on the 9th.

    Collaborate with other students to create a world with multiple unique, themed escape room adventure maps. Students will complete a mission to race through the end and escape the Ender Dragon!
