    What does Classic, Country, Bluegrass & Americana music have in common? Hot violin/fiddle music solos! Join Musician Pierre for toe tapping violin/fiddle tunes, to learn more about this amazing instrument and try playing one! You'll learn basic fingering and bowing techniques and a couple of easy tunes. No experience necessary! For youth ages 6-11 a parent needs to attend with their child to help with instrument placement if needed. Enrollment is limited to one family per camp.   • Pottery - Paint Your Own Pumpkin!!!

    Halloween is around the corner and what better way to decorate than with your own ceramic pumpkin- this one lasts forever! During our class you will learn about the kiln and the ceramic process. You will be painting your pottery with our glazes and will have over 20 colors to choose from. Who says a pumpkin has to be orange! Bring your creativity. When you’re done, leave your pumpkin with us, we do all the clean up too. We’ll dip it in a clear glaze and fire it in our kiln. We’ll let you know when your pottery is done, typically within a week and returned to CI Community Ed building.
  • Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Program (11+ yrs)

    The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The YouTube "vlogger" style presentation of the video brings a youthful and high-energy spirit to the program content, and the colorful magazine format of the student book makes learning fun. From getting started with your business, to working with parents and children, to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete the achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. This class is for students aged 11 years and up. A lower rate is available for Cambridge-Isanti students whose families have qualified for the 21-22 Federal free/reduced lunch program.     Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether it is for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a child who is mature and well prepared. This class for children will address several topics relating to being "Home Alone," including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen. Parents are encouraged to review the take-home information and discuss it with their child. This class is for students in 2nd Grade and up. A lower rate is available for Cambridge-Isanti students whose families have qualified for the 21-22 Federal free/reduced lunch program.     Horse Day Camp: One Day Option (Ages 6 - 17)

    Kids will learn what it is like to have a horse for a day!!! Learn how to groom, tack-up, lead and ride. Plus have fun creating horse crafts, learning how to give a horse a bath, feeding, watering and other horse care. Campers are broken down into smaller groups based on similiar riding experience, which is perfect for both new and more experienced riders! Camps run rain or shine! Please wear shoes with a closed toe and a heel, long pants and dress for the weather. Face masks are required. Bring lunch and a nut-free snack, water bottle, bug spray and sunscreen.   • Family Open Gym

    Family Open Gym is a time for games of basketball, soccer, catch, hula hoops, or simply running off steam. There will be a space that is coned off for our youngest Bluejackets with items such as balls, trikes, and more. Youth must be accompanied by an adult. While the gym is open for use, preregistration is required and no cash will be accepted at the door.
  • Ooey Gooey Art (Grades 3-5)

    Join us for for all things messy, fun, and slimy! We will make our own slime, play with putty, and provide all participants with the recipes to do it all again at home. Playing and getting messy are the objectives! Please remember to dress for the mess. This will be taught by community education staff.
  • Home Alone & Safe (Ages 7 - 10)

    Going to be home alone for short periods of time? If so, this class is a must. The instructor will focus on safety issues dealing with answering the telephone and door, stranger safety, where to keep keys and emergency information, basic first aid including choking, bleeding, burns and CPR. You will receive a participation certificate and instructional book. Students attend this class independently.   • Junior Veterinarian - Level 2 (Grades 3 - 6)

    Did your child take our Junior Veterinarian class (Level 1) and now wants to know even more about veterinary medicine and animals? If so, then this Level 2 Junior Veterinarian class is just what the doctor ordered! Learn even more about what happens behind the scenes at the vet clinic. Parents are encouraged to stay and learn with their child. The $35 fee includes a $15.00 supply fee for items required for the class. Space is limited so sign up early! Prerequisite - Junior Veterinarian - Level 1.
  • Spooky Swim (Grades K-6)

    Don't worry. . . you'll be safe. . . ghosts can't swim. . . or can they? We'll turn down the lights for some spooky swimming, spooky music and spooky games. All students will receive a snack during the event and a goody bag at the end of the activity. If you have a preschool age child, he/she is welcome to register and attend as long as an adult is with the child at all times, including in the water and the pool deck. Adults are welcome to stay and swim at no cost. Life jackets are optional. Must be preregistered.
  • Intro to Java Coding (Gr 4-8) - Live Online **New**

    Students will be introduced to object-oriented programming and elements of the Java language while learning to code their text-based RPG (Roleplaying Game). No programming experience is necessary, but familiarity with common tasks using a computer operating system (text-editing and understanding directory structures) and good keyboarding skills is required.   • Junior Bluejacket Speed & Strength (Grades 3-5)

    Students will engage in exercises that help prevent injuries, increase agility and balance, teach technique and build core strength. Each day will end with FUN games including basketball, floor hockey and others. Every participant will become a better athlete and a team player! Please note if your child attends Adventure Center you must contact the child's teacher so they know your child's edited times of attendance. Please contact their site with any questions on this.   • Pottery - Paint Your Own Ornament!!!

    Adorn your tree with a hand painted ornament! Great as a holiday gift tag or an addition to your Christmas Tree. Participants will have their choice of one ornament (trees, Santa, snowmen, reindeer etc) Participants will be painting their pottery with glazes and we will have over 20 colors to choose from. When they’re done, leave the ornament with us, we do all the clean up too. We’ll dip it in a clear glaze and fire it in our kiln. We’ll let you know when your pottery is done, typically within a week and returned to CI Community Ed building.

    Do you have a child who is crazy about animals? Veterinary medicine is an exciting field. Helping keep animals healthy and happy is very rewarding. Learn what goes on behind the scenes in veterinary medicine, including x-rays and general care. Parents are encouraged to stay and learn with their child. Space is limited so sign up early!
  • Science Explorers' Myth Busting 101

    Mind blowing myths or scientific facts? Join Science Explorers as we confirm or bust strang myths and wacky legends. We will ask the crazy questions, develop hypotheses, then we may smash it, crash it or launch it to determine if the myth is confirmed, plausible or busted.
